Endhiran...confused film

Too many good cooks spoil the broth and i cant think of a better proof to this than the movie itself. I was obviously excited to watch thalaivar's movie and more to watch Sankar's work. I like Sankar for the screenplay and the way he charaterizes his hero and heroine, they are portrayed educated and beautiful. It makes you forget the non idealistic world for a couple of hours and watch the hero change the city.

For a start the theatre experience, i mean the crowd was so disappointing. Given the fact that i went to the movie almost a month later after it was released, i expected a little decent audience that would clap for good efforts on the screen. But i guess i shud defy those logics when it is Rajni. There was whistle and applause for even sneezing on screen. And the scene where Ash kisses the hero, there were lewd jokes and loud comments.

Now coming to the movie as such, i wasnt too impressed by the shabby, patchy work. I particularly hated the scenes where Rajni tries to romance Ash, they look so made up. She is just awesome in her moves to the music and our hero as usual does his robotic dance (which he is used to doing in all movies). I found that a lot of characters have been immensely wasted like Danny Denzongpa, Hanifa, Revathy Sankaran, Santhanam, Kalabavan Mani etc. These are some very good artists who havent been used to their fullest. I would have preferred if the romatic scenes of Ash(warya)-(Raj)ni had been cut down to let in these characters play for a while. If you parse the movie scene by scene probably it was shot well, but together they sucked.

In short if i were to describe the movie i wud say, first half was dedicated to romance, second to graphics and Rajni. There was very little for Ash to act while Rajni justified his role as the villanous Robot. What was ultimate kollywoodism was the Robot detailing about the first Robot-human (humanoid) child to Ash. The series of graphics near the climax was what probably took Sankar 2 years to complete. They were good but too much to take in a single stretch. He cud have used such heavy graphic for the pathetic first half too.

I found Ash leading the movie, managed to find Rajni in the second half but sadly couldnt find the good director Sankar who always neatly presents his work. Perhaps Sankar was confused whether to satisfy the lead pair by adding unnecessary romantic scenes, or to satisfy the hype created by including too many special effects, or to satisfy the mass by adding too much stunts by Rajni (that can be counted as special effects too ;)), or to satisfy the producer by making a masala story, or to satisfy his good self by coining an out of the box sci-fi movie.

Exam time fun!

Actually writing becomes quite addictive only if you continuously read and get read. Both become very tough when you have different priorites that crave for your time. Nevertheless when you write again after a break you have so much to write on.

There are some 100 things that happened between the last time i wrote and now, those that are insignificant and random and those that are interesting and one moment fun. To start with my sister left a very emotional filmi comment on my previous blog where i compared my love for her to the love for my country (little did she realize i take both for granted). After giving it much thought i decided to retain the comment (not because it was the only comment in my blog) because she shouldnt be hurt, u know ;)

This time i wanted to blog on our long forgotten exam prep time fun. Yeah, this i suddenly remembered becos last week i gave a shot at one of the network certifications. I being a early riser, woke up by 5 AM and started my revisions for the day's exam and i literally read out aloud and asked mom to cross check on questions. My mom was really shocked when i even gave the answer option number to some questions that i cudnt explain the answer...oops did it slip out that i prepared from dumps...thats ok who doesnt want to pass the exam! I am not sure i was too serious about the exam but my mom was damn serious about it. She gave me two cups of horlicks, cut down on her morning suprabatham songs (shudnt disturb me u know), fed my breakfast while i was doing last minute revisions, kept kumkum on my forehead for success and finally sat praying when i started my exam. I tell you i want to be born in the same country again, atleast for the pampering u get man! My dad was more dad, he wished me luck, called up after exam and checked why i lost 6% and bought sweets in the night. The best part is they did all this without knowing what the exam is for and what it means and i dint bother to worry them too much with jargons when they can afford to skip it (atleast they can, not doomed like me in the IT). But beyond all this special care, when you finish the exam you feel proud of your efforts; when u pass, you feel top of the world. You feel like the hero when he solves a clue in the movie National Treasure. It also has cascading effects, like it can act like a stimulator to another bigger feat you want to do. This is my starter cert which hopefully should appetize my hunger for a bigger cert that i am aiming at, or so i assume. Hopefully i will continue blogging till then and i will update if the small fish big fish formula works with certs.
